Settings

Tap the gear in the top-right of the top bar to open Settings. Tap Done to close it. The sections are below.

Instrument

Sets how the app responds to playing.

  • Play Mode switches between Free and Instrument. In Free mode grains run on their own as long as the transport is playing. In Instrument mode incoming MIDI notes trigger and gate the grains.
  • When Play Mode is Instrument, three more controls appear: Attack and Release set the amplitude envelope for each played note, and Root Note sets the note that plays at the ribbon's center pitch. Attack runs from 2 ms to 2 seconds; Release runs from 10 ms to 4 seconds.

See MIDI and controllers for how notes drive the grains.

Pitch

Sets the ribbon mode, the shared scale, and the pitch-probability behavior: Ribbon Mode, Scale, Probability, Probability Range, and Probability Direction. These are covered in full on the Pitch page.

Controller Profile

Standalone app only. Picks the default map from hardware MIDI CCs to Field's parameters. Your own MIDI-learn overrides always apply on top of the selected profile. See MIDI and controllers.

MIDI Learn

Standalone app only. Lists the CC mappings you have made, each showing the channel and CC number, with a control to clear it. A Reset to Defaults control clears all of your custom mappings and returns to the profile's default map. See MIDI and controllers.

Controller Setup

A link to the controller setup guide on the Plastic Factory site, plus a reminder to set your hardware's CC assignments to match.

Sample

Shows the name of the loaded sample and a control to reload the built-in test tone.
